How to split a PDF

Three quick steps. Nothing to install and nothing leaves your device.

1

Add your PDF

Drag one PDF onto the box above or click it to browse. The tool shows the file size and counts its pages.

2

Choose how to split

Extract page ranges such as "1-3, 5" into new files, or split every page into its own PDF.

3

Split and download

Press Split PDF and download one PDF, or a ZIP when the result is more than one file.

Split a large PDF so it fits in email

Email services often reject big attachments, and the limit differs by service, so check yours first. Splitting sends the file in parts instead of one big attachment.

  1. Add your PDF and read the page count.
  2. Add one row per part, for example 1-25, 26-50 and 51-75.
  3. Press Split PDF and download the ZIP.
  4. Unzip it, check the size of each part and attach the parts to separate emails.

Why split a PDF?

A PDF is often bigger than the part you need. You may want to send only the signed page of a contract, pull one chapter from a long report, separate a scanned stack into single documents, or stay under an upload limit by sending a piece at a time.

This tool does it on your own device, so private papers are not uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about splitting PDFs with ConvertKit Lite.

Is it safe to split my PDF here?

Yes. Splitting runs in your browser, so your file is not uploaded to a server.

How do I extract specific pages?

Pick "Extract page range" and type pages like "2, 4-6". Each row you add becomes its own PDF.

Can I split every page into a separate file?

Yes. Choose "Split every page" and you will get a ZIP containing one PDF per page.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Many files with only edit restrictions work fine. PDFs that need a password to open can't be read, so remove the password first.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no limit on our side. Very large files depend on your device's memory, so they may take longer.

What does the page count at the top mean?

After you add a file, the tool reads it and shows how many pages it has, so you know which numbers are valid for your ranges.

Can I use the same page in more than one range?

Yes. Each row is built separately, so a page can appear in several rows, and even twice in one row. Every row becomes its own file.

Can I put pages in a different order?

Yes. Pages are copied in the order you type them, so 4, 2, 1 gives a new PDF that starts with page 4.

Why can't I split every page of a one-page PDF?

There is nothing to split, so the button is turned off and a message explains it. Use Extract page range if you only want a copy.

What happens with empty range rows?

Empty rows are ignored. At least one row must have pages in it.

What is compatibility mode?

It is used only when a PDF cannot be split in the normal way. Each selected page is drawn as an image and rebuilt into a new PDF. You will see a note in the result, and the text in those pages can't be selected.

How do I know how many files I will get?

In Extract page range mode, one file per filled row, and in Split every page mode, one per page. The result box shows the count and size.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in any modern browser. Very large PDFs use a lot of memory, so a computer is safer.

Is there a watermark or an account?

No watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many times you split.

How do I split a large PDF for email?

Add the PDF, enter one page range per part, press Split PDF and unzip the result. Attach the parts to separate emails.

How do I know how big each part will be?

The tool shows the total size of the ZIP, not each part. Unzip the file and check each part. Pages with large pictures make a part bigger.
