Four ways to reduce an image file size
Which method saves the most depends on your image. This tool offers all four, and you can combine them.
- Resize it. A photo from a phone is often far bigger than a screen shows. Scale it by percentage or set a width, and the file shrinks a lot.
- Lower the quality. JPG and WebP lose a little detail as you go down. 70% to 85% usually looks nearly identical.
- Change the format. WebP is usually the smallest, then JPG. PNG is lossless and stays larger.
- Set a target size. Choose Compress by, then Target file size, and the tool does the trial and error for you.
After each change the result list shows the new size and the percentage saved, so you can stop as soon as it is small enough.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the ConvertKit Lite Image Compressor & Resizer.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser, so your images are not uploaded anywhere.
Can I process many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Why is my result sometimes larger?
Flat graphics and screenshots can compress better in their original format. The result list marks any file that grew so you can keep the original.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern browser. Big batches of large photos are easier on a computer, because processing uses your device's memory.
What is the fastest way to reduce an image file size?
Use Target file size, pick the size you need and add your image. For more control, resize the image first and then lower the quality.
Does reducing the file size change the image dimensions?
Not unless you choose a resize option. With Target file size, the pixel size is reduced only when lowering quality is not enough.
