How to compress a PNG
This page is already set to PNG output. PNG is lossless, so every pixel is kept and the quality slider is switched off. That also means PNG files stay large.
- Be realistic: this tool saves a PNG through your browser, so a PNG kept at the same size may shrink only a little. If the result would not be smaller, you get your original back.
- Resize: fewer pixels is the way to get a much smaller PNG.
- Target file size: choose it and the tool reduces the size in pixels until the PNG fits.
- Photos saved as PNG: switch the output to WebP or JPG for a far smaller file.
- Transparency: PNG and WebP keep transparent areas.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the ConvertKit Lite Image Compressor & Resizer.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser, so your images are not uploaded anywhere.
Can I process many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Why is my result sometimes larger?
Flat graphics and screenshots can compress better in their original format. The result list marks any file that grew so you can keep the original.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern browser. Big batches of large photos are easier on a computer, because processing uses your device's memory.
Can I compress a PNG without losing quality?
PNG output keeps every pixel, but savings are small. To get a much smaller file you must either reduce the size in pixels or switch to WebP or JPG, which are lossy.
Does compressing a PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes, with PNG or WebP output. JPG cannot be transparent, so transparent areas turn white.
