How to compress an image to 200KB
This page is already set to Target file size: 200KB. Add your image and the result appears on its own.
- JPG and WebP: the tool tries quality levels and keeps close to the highest one that fits under 200KB. If even the lowest quality (10%) is too big, it makes the picture smaller in pixels and tries again.
- PNG: PNG has no quality setting, so only the size in pixels can be reduced. For a photo, choose JPG or WebP as the output.
- Already small enough? If you keep the original format and size and the file is already under 200KB, you get your original back unchanged.
- Not reached? The file is marked "above target" with a red message. Try a larger target or resize the image first.
Here, 1 KB is 1,024 bytes, and 1 MB is 1,024 KB.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the ConvertKit Lite Image Compressor & Resizer.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser, so your images are not uploaded anywhere.
Can I process many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Why is my result sometimes larger?
Flat graphics and screenshots can compress better in their original format. The result list marks any file that grew so you can keep the original.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern browser. Big batches of large photos are easier on a computer, because processing uses your device's memory.
How do I compress an image to under 200KB?
Add your image on this page, which is already set to a 200KB target. Check the size shown under the After preview and download the result.
Will my image be resized to reach 200KB?
Only if lowering the quality is not enough. The After preview shows the final size in pixels, so you can see whether it was reduced. PNG files can only reach a target by being made smaller in pixels.
What if my image is already under 200KB?
If you keep the original format and size, the tool returns your original file unchanged.
