How to merge a PDF and JPG images
This tool merges PDF files only. A JPG has to become a PDF first, which takes a minute:
- Open JPG to PDF, add your images, put them in order and download the PDF.
- Come back here and add that PDF together with your other PDF.
- Drag them into the order you want and press Merge PDFs.
- If you add a JPG here, it is skipped and a message says it is not a PDF file.
- Mixed sizes are fine: every page keeps its own size.

Why merge PDF files?
Documents often come in pieces: a cover letter and a CV, several scanned pages, invoices for one month, or a form and its attachments. Many websites and offices want a single PDF, and one file is easier to email, print and store than five.
This tool joins your PDFs on your own device, so contracts, ID copies and financial papers are not uploaded to a server.
How this tool merges your files
- You set the order. Drag files in the list to change their place. The merged PDF follows the numbers, from 1 downwards.
- Pages are copied as they are. When your PDFs are in good shape, the original pages go straight into the new file. Text stays selectable and nothing is made blurrier.
- Compatibility mode is a safety net. If a file has damaged internal data and cannot be merged normally, the tool redraws its pages as images and rebuilds the document. It tells you when it used this mode. The result is complete, but its text can no longer be selected and the file can be larger.
- You get one file. The result shows how many files were combined and the final size, and downloads as merged.pdf.
Things to know
- You need at least two PDFs. The Merge button stays off until there are two or more in the list.
- Other file types are skipped. If you add something that is not a PDF, you get a message and it is left out.
- Encrypted PDFs can cause trouble. Many password-protected files will not merge correctly. Remove the password in your PDF viewer first.
- Very large jobs use memory. There is no limit on our side, but very large or very many files may be slow or fail on some devices, especially phones.
Tips for better results
- Check the order before you press Merge. It is quicker than fixing it afterwards.
- Turn other files into PDFs first. Use Word to PDF, JPG to PDF or TXT to PDF, then merge the results.
- Need only some pages from each file? Cut them out with Split PDF before you merge.
- Need to rearrange or delete pages inside the merged file? Edit PDF can move and delete pages and add text.
- File too large for an upload form? Run the result through Compress PDF, or try Compress PDF to 200KB or 500KB for common limits.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about merging PDFs with ConvertKit Lite.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Merging runs in your browser, so your files are not uploaded anywhere.
How do I change the order of the files?
Drag any file in the list up or down. The numbers update, and the PDFs are merged in that order.
How many files can I merge?
There is no limit on our side. Very large or very many files may be slow or run out of memory on some devices.
What is compatibility mode?
If a PDF has damaged internal data and can't be merged normally, the tool redraws its pages and rebuilds the document instead. The result still merges, but pages become images, so text may no longer be selectable and the file can be larger.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Many encrypted PDFs will not merge correctly. Remove the password in your PDF viewer first, then try again.
What is the minimum number of files?
Two. The Merge PDFs button is turned off until you add at least two PDF files.
Does merging reduce the quality?
Not in the normal case. The original pages are copied into the new file, so text and images stay as they were. Only compatibility mode, used for damaged files, redraws pages as images.
How do I know if compatibility mode was used?
The result message says so, for example: 3 files combined into one PDF, compatibility mode used. In that case the text in the merged PDF may no longer be selectable.
Can I add more files after I start?
Yes. Press Add more files, or drop more PDFs onto the page. New files go to the end of the list, and you can drag them where you want.
Can I remove a file from the list?
Yes. Press the cross on the right of any file to take it out before merging.
Do pages of different sizes work?
Yes. Each page keeps its own size, so an A4 page and a landscape page can sit in the same merged file.
What is the merged file called?
It downloads as merged.pdf. You can rename it after saving.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac. Big PDFs use a lot of memory, so a computer is safer for large merges.
Is there a watermark or an account?
No watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many times you merge.
Can I merge a PDF and a JPG?
Not directly. Turn the JPG into a PDF with JPG to PDF first, then merge the two PDFs here.
What happens if I add a JPG to the merger?
It is left out, and a message says the file is not a PDF and was skipped.
