Three quick steps. Nothing to install and nothing leaves your device.

1

Add your PDF files

Click the upload area or drag one or more PDF files onto it. You can add several files and convert them together.

2

Choose image settings

Pick the resolution (72, 150 or 220 DPI), whether to convert all pages or only the first, and the JPG quality.

3

Convert and download

Press Convert, preview the images in the list, then download each one or all of them as a ZIP.

Convert a PDF to JPG without uploading it

Your browser reads the PDF from your computer or phone and draws each page itself. The JPG images are made there too, so your PDF is never sent to a server.

That matters for private files such as contracts, ID copies and bank statements. The converter code is downloaded when you open the page, but your PDF stays on your device.

Why convert a PDF to JPG?

A PDF is a document, and not every app or website can show one. A JPG is a picture that opens almost anywhere. Turning PDF pages into JPG images lets you post a page in a chat, add it to a slide, use it on a website, upload it to a form that only takes images, or make a quick preview of a document.

The pages are drawn on your own device, so contracts, ID copies, statements and other private documents are not uploaded to a server.

How this tool makes your images

Which resolution should you choose?

Resolution is measured in DPI, which is dots per inch. A higher number means a sharper picture and a bigger file. For an A4 page, the sizes come out at roughly these dimensions:

Very large pages, such as posters and big drawings, are scaled down automatically so that the image stays at about 16 million pixels or fewer. This keeps your browser from running out of memory, but the result may be smaller than the DPI you picked.

Tips for better results

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the ConvertKit Lite PDF to JPG tool.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. The images are created in your browser, so your files stay on your device.

How many images do I get?

One JPG for every page of the PDF, or just the first page if you choose that option. Several images can be downloaded together as a ZIP.

Which resolution should I choose?

72 DPI suits quick previews and web use. 150 DPI is a good all-round choice. 220 DPI is best for printing or zooming in on small text.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

No. Remove the password in your PDF viewer first, then convert the unlocked file.

Why are some pages very large files?

Pages with photos or dense graphics produce bigger JPGs. Lower the resolution or the quality to reduce the file size.

What size will my images be?

It depends on the page size and the resolution you pick. For an A4 page, 72 DPI gives about 595 × 842 pixels, 150 DPI about 1240 × 1754 and 220 DPI about 1819 × 2572. The size of each image is shown in the results list.

What will the files be called?

A one-page PDF gives name.jpg. A PDF with several pages gives names such as name-page-1.jpg and name-page-2.jpg. If two PDFs have the same name, a number is added so nothing is overwritten.

Why are my images smaller than the DPI I picked?

Very large pages are scaled down automatically so the image stays at about 16 million pixels or fewer. This protects your browser's memory. Normal documents such as A4 and Letter pages are not affected.

Can I convert only one page?

The tool can convert all pages or only the first page. For other pages, use Split PDF to pull them out into their own file first, then convert that file.

Can I select the text in the JPG?

No. A JPG is a picture, so the text cannot be selected or searched. Use PDF to Text or PDF to Word if you need the text itself.

Can I have a transparent background?

No. JPG does not support transparency, so each page is saved on a white background.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac. Long PDFs and the 220 DPI setting can be slow on older phones, so try 150 DPI first.

Is there a watermark or a limit?

No watermark, no account and no limit on how many PDFs you convert.

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. The pages are drawn in your browser and the images are made on your device.

Do I need an internet connection?

The page needs a connection to load the converter code. Your PDF itself is not sent anywhere.
