Get a sharp PDF for printing
- Page size: choose A4 or US Letter to match your paper, or Same as image to keep each picture exact.
- Quality: choose Maximum for the most detail. The file will be larger.
- Margin: many home printers cannot print to the very edge, so Small or Big is safer than None.
- Start with a big picture: a PDF cannot add detail. For a sharp A4 print at 300 DPI, the photo should be about 2480 by 3508 pixels or more.
- JPEG inside: pictures are stored as JPEG inside the PDF, so very fine line art can lose a little crispness.

Why turn images into a PDF?
A PDF keeps pictures together in one file with the pages in a fixed order. That makes it easier to email scanned documents, send a set of photos, submit forms and receipts, or share a portfolio, because the person on the other end opens a single file instead of many.
This tool builds the PDF inside your browser. Your images are not uploaded to a server, so private photos and documents stay on your device.
How this tool builds your PDF
- One image becomes one page. The pages follow the order of the thumbnails, and the page number is shown on each one.
- Page size is your choice. A4 and US Letter give standard pages. Same as image makes each page the exact shape of its picture.
- Orientation is automatic. A landscape image gets a landscape A4 or Letter page, and a portrait or square image gets a portrait page.
- The image is scaled to fit. It is shown as large as it can be inside the margin, centred, and never cropped or stretched. Margin can be None, Small or Big.
- Transparent areas become white. Each image is drawn onto a white background first, so a PNG with a see-through background shows white in the PDF.
- Quality controls the file size. Standard, High and Maximum decide how strongly each picture is compressed before it goes into the PDF.
- The file is named for you. One image keeps its own name, so photo.jpg becomes photo.pdf. Several images are saved as images.pdf.
Limits to know
- The pages are pictures. The PDF contains your images, not text, so words inside a photo cannot be selected or searched.
- Small images are enlarged to fit. A small picture is scaled up to fill the page area, so it can look soft. Choose Same as image to keep a page the size of the picture.
- Only JPG, PNG and WebP are accepted. Other files are skipped, and a message tells you how many.
- Everything is saved as JPEG inside the PDF. That keeps the file smaller, but it means very sharp line art can lose a little crispness.
- There is no fixed limit on images. Many large photos need a lot of memory, so try Standard quality or fewer images if the conversion fails.
- An internet connection is needed once. The PDF library is loaded from a content delivery network when the page opens.
Tips for better results
- Check the order before you convert. The thumbnails show exactly how the pages will follow each other, so use the arrows to fix the order first.
- Scanning documents with your phone? A4 with a Small margin gives a tidy, printable page.
- PDF too big to email? Choose Standard quality, shrink the pictures first with Image Compressor & Resizer, or reduce the PDF afterwards with Compress PDF.
- iPhone photos in HEIC? Convert them first with HEIC to JPG, because HEIC files are not accepted here.
- Need to join this PDF to another? Merge PDF combines the files, and Split PDF takes pages out.
- Want your images back? PDF to JPG turns each page into a picture.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the ConvertKit Lite JPG to PDF tool.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is created in your browser, so your images stay on your device.
Can I combine several images into one PDF?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, reorder them with the arrows, and each becomes one page.
Which image types are supported?
JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP. Transparent areas become white.
What does "Same as image" page size do?
Each page takes the exact shape of its image, so nothing is cropped or padded beyond the margin you choose.
Why is my PDF large?
Photos are big. Choose Standard quality to make the file smaller.
How do I change the order of the pages?
Use the left and right arrows on each thumbnail to move an image earlier or later. The number on the thumbnail shows its page. You can also remove an image with the cross.
What do the page size options mean?
A4 and US Letter give a standard page, and the image is scaled to fit inside it. Same as image makes each page the shape of its picture, plus the margin you chose.
Will landscape photos be turned sideways?
No. A landscape image gets a landscape page, and a portrait or square image gets a portrait page, so nothing is rotated or cropped.
What does the margin setting do?
It leaves a blank border around the image. None fills the page edge to edge, Small is the default, and Big leaves the most white space.
What does the image quality setting do?
It sets how strongly each picture is compressed inside the PDF. Standard makes the smallest file, High is the default, and Maximum keeps the most detail but gives a larger file.
Can I add HEIC photos from my iPhone?
Not directly. This tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. Convert HEIC photos to JPG first, then add them here.
Why is a small image blown up on the page?
With A4 or US Letter the image is scaled to fit the page area, which can enlarge a small picture and make it look soft. Use Same as image to avoid enlarging.
What happens to a PNG with a transparent background?
It is placed on a white background, so the see-through parts turn white in the PDF.
What is the PDF called?
A single image keeps its own name, so photo.jpg becomes photo.pdf. Several images are saved together as images.pdf.
What if I get an error?
The most common causes are very large images or too many of them for your device's memory. Try Standard quality or fewer images. If you see a message about the converter not loading, check your internet connection and reload the page.
What quality should I use for a PDF I want to print?
Choose Maximum for the most detail, and start with a high-resolution picture. Maximum makes a larger file.
How many pixels do I need for a sharp A4 print?
About 2480 by 3508 pixels or more for a sharp print at 300 DPI. A smaller picture is enlarged and can look soft.
