Choose settings
Pick the JPG quality, from High (95%) to Smallest (50%), and a maximum image size if you want smaller pictures.
Convert and download
Press Convert, check the new sizes and thumbnails, then download each JPG or all of them as a ZIP.
Convert HEIC photos on your own device
Personal photos should not have to travel to a stranger server. This tool converts them on your own device.
- Your photos stay with you: they are read and converted in the browser, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Only the decoder is downloaded: the first time, a small HEIC decoder is loaded from the internet. That is the code of the tool, not your photos.
- Needs a connection once: if the decoder cannot load, you see a message asking you to check your connection.
- No location in the result: the JPG holds the picture only, without details such as where it was taken. That is handy when you share a photo and do not want to share the place.

Why convert HEIC to JPG?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones and some other phones use by default. It makes small files with good quality, but a lot of software does not understand it. Windows PCs, older Macs, many websites, email programs, print shops and upload forms may refuse a HEIC photo or show it as a blank box.
JPG opens almost everywhere. This tool converts your photos on your own device, so personal pictures are never uploaded.
How this tool converts your photos
- It reads the HEIC file in your browser. The first time, it loads a small decoder from the internet, so you need a connection. If your browser can already open the file by itself, as Safari often can, it uses that instead.
- It saves a JPG at your quality. Choose High (95%), Balanced (85%, the default), Small file (70%) or Smallest (50%).
- It can shrink the photo. The Image size menu limits the longest side to 3840, 1920 or 1280 pixels. Photos that are already smaller are not enlarged, and Original size leaves them alone.
- It shows the results. Each converted photo gets a thumbnail and its new file size, and keeps its name with a .jpg ending.
Choosing quality and size
- High (95%) and Original size: best for photos you want to keep, edit or print.
- Balanced (85%): a good everyday choice for sharing and uploading.
- Small file (70%) or Smallest (50%), with Max 1920 px or less: for email, forms and websites with size limits.
JPG files are often larger than the HEIC photo they come from, because HEIC is a more efficient format. That is normal. Lower the quality or the maximum size if the file size matters.
What is not kept
- Live Photo motion and depth data. Only the main image of each file is used.
- Photo details. The JPG contains the picture only, without information such as location. That can be handy when you share a photo and do not want to share where it was taken.
Tips and related tools
- Convert in batches. Add many photos at once and download the ZIP. On a phone, fewer photos at a time is safer, because large photos use a lot of memory.
- Stop getting HEIC files. On an iPhone, Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible makes new photos in JPG.
- On a Windows PC? The guide to converting HEIC to JPG on Windows explains it step by step.
- Need a PDF? After converting, use JPG to PDF to put photos in a document.
- Photos still too big? Image Compressor & Resizer reduces them further, and JPG to WebP makes smaller files for websites.
- Other formats? WebP to JPG and PNG to JPG cover the common cases.
- Need the data from a photo of a table? Once it is a JPG, the Image to Excel converter can read the table into a spreadsheet.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the ConvertKit Lite HEIC to JPG tool.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device.
What is HEIC?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones use by default. It keeps good quality at a small size, but many apps, websites and older computers cannot open it. JPG works almost everywhere.
Will quality be lost?
JPG uses lossy compression, so a tiny amount of detail can be lost. Choose High (95%) to keep the result as close to the original as possible. JPG files are often larger than HEIC files at the same look.
Is photo information such as date and location kept?
No. The converted JPG contains the picture only, without EXIF details such as location. This is also handy when you want to share a photo without its location.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes. Add several HEIC files, convert them together, and download each JPG or one ZIP.
Why did a file fail to convert?
The file may be damaged, or it may use a HEIC variant your browser cannot decode. Very large photos can also run out of memory on phones, so try a smaller maximum size or fewer files at a time.
What is the difference between HEIC and HEIF?
HEIF is the general image format, and HEIC is the version Apple uses for iPhone photos. This tool accepts both .heic and .heif files.
Does the image size in pixels change?
Not by default. Original size keeps the full width and height. If you choose a maximum size, the longest side is reduced to that number of pixels, and smaller photos are left as they are.
Which quality should I choose?
Balanced (85%) is a good default. Choose High (95%) to stay close to the original, or Small file and Smallest when you need a lighter file.
Why is my JPG bigger than the HEIC?
HEIC compresses photos more efficiently than JPG, so the JPG is often larger at the same look. Lower the quality or the maximum size to bring it down.
What happens to Live Photos?
Only the main still image is converted. The motion part of a Live Photo is not kept, and neither is depth data.
Why does it need an internet connection?
The first conversion loads a small HEIC decoder from the internet. After that, your photos are still converted on your device. If the decoder cannot load, you see a message asking you to check your connection.
What will my files be called?
Each JPG keeps the name of the HEIC photo with a .jpg ending. In the ZIP, files with the same name get a number added so none are overwritten.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac. Large photos can use a lot of memory on phones, so convert a few at a time or pick a smaller maximum size.
Is there a watermark or a limit?
No watermark, no account and no limit on how many photos you convert.
Does my HEIC photo leave my device?
No. The photo is converted in your browser and is never sent to a server. Only the code of the tool is loaded from the internet.
Can I remove the location from a photo with this tool?
The converted JPG holds the picture only, without details such as location. There is no setting to turn that on or off.
