Why do you need a PDF under 100KB?
Many websites cap uploads at 100 KB. You see this on job applications, exam and admission forms, scholarship and visa portals, and government services. If your file is even a little too big, the form rejects it, and a scan from a phone is often several megabytes.
Some email systems and chat apps also struggle with large attachments. A small PDF uploads faster on a slow connection, which helps a lot on mobile data.
How this tool gets your file under 100KB
It works in stages, so you keep as much quality as possible:
- Lossless clean-up first. The tool rebuilds the file structure without changing how pages look. Text stays selectable. If this is enough, you are done.
- Image compression next. If the file is still too big, each page is re-encoded as an image at a lower quality and resolution. It repeats with stronger settings until the size is under 100 KB.
- Best effort if needed. If 100 KB is not possible without making the pages unreadable, the tool tells you the smallest size it reached.
Tips if your PDF is still too large
- Split it. A 30-page scan will rarely fit in 100 KB. Use Split PDF to send only the pages you need.
- Scan at a lower resolution. 150 DPI black and white is enough for most forms.
- Shrink photos first. If your PDF is made of pictures, run them through the Image Compressor and then rebuild the PDF with JPG to PDF.
- Combine afterwards. Need several documents in one file? Use Merge PDF after you compress each one.
Need a different size? Try Compress PDF to 200KB, Compress PDF to 500KB, Compress PDF to 1MB, or the standard Compress PDF tool for full control over quality.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about compressing a PDF to 100KB.
How do I compress a PDF to under 100KB?
Drop your PDF into the box above and press the compress button. The tool tries a lossless clean-up first, then lowers image quality and resolution step by step until the file is under 100 KB or it reaches the smallest readable result. Then you download the file.
Will my PDF still be readable after compressing to 100KB?
Usually yes for normal documents. If a lossless clean-up is not enough, pages are converted to images, so the text stays visible but can no longer be selected or searched. Very small targets on image-heavy files can look softer.
Why is my PDF still bigger than 100KB?
Files with many pages, large photos or full-page scans can be too heavy to reach 100 KB without looking blurry. Split the PDF into smaller parts, remove pages you do not need, or rescan at a lower resolution, then compress again.
Is it safe to upload my documents here?
Nothing is uploaded. The compression runs inside your own browser, so your file stays on your device. That makes it a good fit for ID copies, certificates and application documents.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac. Large PDFs can take longer on older phones, so try a smaller file first.
Is there a watermark or a limit?
No watermark, no account and no daily limit. You can compress as many PDFs as you like.
