Face Age Estimator: How Old Do You Look?
Ever wondered how old you look in a photo? The Face Age Estimator from ConvertKit Lite gives you a quick, playful guess of the apparent age of the face in a picture. It runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no account to create.
What apparent age means, how the estimator works, how to get a more reliable result, and what the tool can and can't tell you.
What Is Apparent Age?
Apparent age is the age a person seems to be from how their face looks in a photo. It is different from real age, which is the number of years since someone was born. Two people of the same real age can look several years apart because of genetics, sun exposure, sleep, expression, and even the camera used.
How the Face Age Estimator Works
The tool uses an AI model that runs inside your web browser. When you press the estimate button, it does three things:
- It looks for a face in your photo.
- It analyzes visible facial features in that face.
- It returns a single number: the estimated apparent age in years.
The first time you use it, the model files are downloaded from a public CDN, so you need an internet connection and a few extra seconds. After that, estimates are faster.
How to Use It
- Open the tool and choose a photo, or drag one into the upload box. JPG, PNG and WebP files work.
- Check the preview to make sure only one face is visible.
- Select Estimate apparent age.
- Read the result, then press Reset to try another photo.
Tips for a More Reliable Result
- Use good lighting. Soft, even light on the face works better than harsh shadows or a dark room.
- Face the camera. A front-facing photo gives the model a clear view of your features.
- Keep one face in the frame. The tool works on one person at a time, so crop out everyone else.
- Avoid heavy filters. Beauty filters and strong edits can change the estimate.
- Use a sharp photo. Blurry or very small images make the face harder to read.
Why Does the Estimate Change From Photo to Photo?
You may get different numbers from different pictures of the same person. That is normal. Lighting, angle, expression, glasses, makeup, image quality and the model's own limits all affect the result. Treat the number as a fun guess, not a measurement.
Is My Photo Private?
Your selected photo is processed in your browser, and this tool does not upload it to our server. The only thing that loads from the internet is the AI model itself, which comes from a public CDN. As with any online tool, avoid using photos you wouldn't want on your device in the first place.
Common Problems and Fixes
- "No face detected": try a clearer, front-facing photo with better lighting.
- "More than one face detected": crop the image so only one person is visible.
- The first estimate is slow: the model is loading for the first time. Wait a moment and later estimates will be quicker.
- The model won't load: check your internet connection and make sure no extension is blocking scripts.
What the Tool Can't Do
The Face Age Estimator is made for fun. It is not a verified age check, it does not identify anyone, and it should not be used to decide anything important such as access to age-restricted services. If you need your exact age from a date of birth, use the Age Calculator instead.
Try It Now
Upload a photo to the Face Age Estimator and see how old you look. If your photo is too large, the Image Compressor & Resizer can shrink it first. Try a few different pictures and compare the results.
